The neighborhood - Cais do Sodré and Santos

Nestled along the scenic Tagus River, Cais do Sodré and Santos are two of Lisbon’s most dynamic and culturally rich neighborhoods. These adjacent districts blend the city's maritime heritage with a modern, cosmopolitan vibe, making them must-visit areas for travelers seeking a mix of history, nightlife, and design.

Once a gritty dockside area frequented by sailors and traders, Cais do Sodré has transformed into one of Lisbon’s trendiest spots. The district is anchored by Praça Dom Luís, where the famous Mercado da Ribeira (Time Out Market) offers an exceptional selection of Portuguese cuisine curated by top chefs. The area is also home to Rua Nova do Carvalho, famously known as the “Pink Street”, a vibrant nightlife hub lined with bars, live music venues, and stylish cocktail lounges.

For a scenic riverside experience, take a stroll along Avenida Ribeira das Naus, a beautifully restored promenade perfect for relaxing by the water. The Cais do Sodré train and ferry station provides easy access to nearby destinations, including Cascais and the beaches of Costa da Caparica.

Just west of Cais do Sodré, Santos is Lisbon’s creative quarter, known for its design studios, art galleries, and stylish cafés. Historically a neighbourhood of aristocratic mansions and industrial warehouses, Santos has evolved into the city’s design district, housing institutions like the IADE – Creative University and numerous furniture and interior design showrooms.

Santos is also a fantastic place to enjoy Lisbon’s café culture. Trendy brunch spots, riverside restaurants, and rooftop bars offer a relaxed atmosphere with stunning views of the Tagus. The area’s charm is further enhanced by its historic trams, including the famous Tram 25 and Tram 28, which wind through its picturesque streets.

Despite being in the District of the city where everything happens, the Cais do Tojo apartment is located in a very quiet street. You will find a local collection of supermarkets, cafes, supermarkets, gyms, ATMs, laundries as well as restaurants to suit all tastes.

Please respect the fact that the apartment is a residential area. The noise should be kept at a respectable level at all times so as not to disturb the neighbours.
